Students please use the following link to submit your licenses:
Please also view the powerpoint below for step by step instructions. Students are responsible for sending in all of their own documents through the online system and after they have successfully submitted their application, the SOE licensure office will approve it. There is no deadline and they can apply whenever they have a degree dated transcript. Before applying, students should check their transcripts to make sure their degree has been awarded at the Specialist level.
On Wednesday, an open house was held on the campus of Cape Fear Community College to announce that we will be offering classes for the Wilmington area beginning in Fall 2017 semester. We were pleased with the turnout and look forward to serving our students where they are. If you have questions, please feel to call at the numbers below.
Students completing the CACREP, 60-hour program are eligible for recommendation for a specialist license, upon passing the PRAXIS II in Professional School Counseling. School Counselors holding a M-level license who successfully complete additional prescribed coursework (such as the certificate) can be recommended for the S-level license. Please contact NCDPI for pay/salary information related to licensure level.
Contact the school counseling program director, licensure office in the School of Education or The Graduate School for support.

The UNCP Counseling Programs has successfully completed a registration process with International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs (IRCEP). The UNCP Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling graduate programs are already nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and now are internationally recognized by the IRCEP.
The International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs (IRCEP) was created in 2009 to foster excellence in the education and training of professional counsellors worldwide. As an international quality assurance review process, IRCEP was purposefully designed to empower programs to develop counsellor training curricula appropriate to their country, regions, and/or culture, while simultaneously recognizing the broad tenets of education and training common to the practice of counselling regardless of practice location.
