The first workshop in the Professional Development Academy workshop series was a huge success! Forty-eight students turned out for the APA Writing Style Workshop on September 17th. Dr. Teagan Decker, an assistant professor and director of the UNCP Writing Center, talked with students about the major rules of APA style and the resources available on campus to help graduate students cite information correctly. The first event in the series will be an information session about CACREP accreditation. I hope that all of our students in the Professional School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program will attend this session. It is offered on two different nights to increase accessibility to this important information session–Monday, 9/10 at 5:30 and Thursday, 9/13 at 5:30.
